After a few busy months away from sourdough baking, I finally carved out the time to revisit one of my favorite kitchen projects: baking sourdough bread. There’s something uniquely rewarding about turning a sleepy sourdough starter into a beautiful, golden loaf of bread—it’s a slow process, but so worth it.
I always use the Farmhouse On Boone recipe, which never fails to produce a deliciously crusty and airy loaf. You can find the recipe here.
The process started yesterday when I woke up my dormant starter, feeding it a couple of times to get it strong and bubbly again. It’s like bringing an old friend back to life! With the starter ready, I mixed up the dough—a satisfying job in itself. It’s all about the feel of the dough, the stretch, and the patience of letting time work its magic.
By the end of today, I’ll have a finished loaf to enjoy. There’s nothing quite like the smell of freshly baked sourdough filling the house. It’s a reminder of why I love doing this, even if life sometimes gets in the way.
If you’ve been considering giving sourdough a try or just need inspiration to dust off your starter, let this be your sign. It’s a job well worth the time, and the results are always rewarding. Stay tuned for a picture of the finished loaf!
